Places to Visit

Fertile soils and a mild climate generate perfect conditions for the plum, pear and apple orchards that gave the county its name; not to mention the strawberries, cherries and unique Kentish hazelnuts that also grow here. Wine lovers will be in heaven, with a selection of vineyards available for visiting, which produce the region's trademark white wines.

The towns and cities here exist in harmony with nature and each one offers something different. Live your own Canterbury Tale with a trip to one of the most important cities in England's past. Sample the high life at the eminent spa town of Royal Tunbridge Wells. Why not relax on the beach at Folkestone. You might even explore the past residences of Charles Dickens, Winston Churchill and Charles Darwin.

Add to this its tradition of carnivals and events throughout the year. Plus the easily accessible Weald and Downs and you've got a county that offers you pretty much everything.
