Overview

So you are visiting Bath and would like to stay in a certain place you are going to remember and will be able to speak about when you proceed home. Your search is over. This is actually the ideal spot. A genuine homely but cheap and cheerful establishment in a very convenient location in the middle of Bath.

Well located a short 0.1 mile walk of 3 minutes will take you to the world renown shop lines Pulteney Bridge. The street we are on Henrietta Street, was originally designed in the late 1700's by the architect of Pulteney Bridge Sir William Pulteney. He named the street after his much loved daughter. From here it is a short walk over Pulteney Bridge to get into the heart of Olde Bath.

No frills rooms are available at a reasonable price. The accommodation was originally 3 Georgian town houses which were converted in 1949.

Feel free to relax in either our lounge or and bar after your travels and exploration of the city. There is some car parking available at a charge.

The singers Engelbert Humperdinck and Tom Jones were later to be associated with the establishment through a purchase by an organisation headed by the two. There was then a massive refurbishment undertaken to bring the hotel up to the fine standards they required.

Overall: Be aware that this is a very poor hotel in a very good location. The room was dirty, the beds old and uncomfortable, the fan in the bathroom didn't work properly, the decor was very tired and faded. This is essentially a youth hostel where the rooms have ensuite bathrooms and there's no breakfast. If you keep your expectations low, you won't be disappointed.

Bad Stuff: The fan made a noise in the bathroom and couldn't be turned off. The room was filthy. The beds were lumpy. There weren't enough bed clothes. They called it 'ground floor' but it was in the basement.

Good Stuff: Location

Overall: Adequate for one night. However, would not want to stay any longer.

Bad Stuff: Unable to stand in the bath to use the shower due to eaves. Put in highest room in the hotel. Terrible dated decor.

Good Stuff: Friendly staff brilliant location

Overall: good enough for a short stay in a cheap hotel, which is what i was looking for

Bad Stuff: weak furnitures (but nothing broken), especially flush and tapes

Good Stuff: good location, cheap, nice staff, breakfast

Bad Stuff: The wardrobe in the room was broken. The door hinges were not attached to the middle of the door, hence making it unstable when I tried to use the wardrobe to hang my clothes. The wardrobe actually leaned to the right and moved to the left when I opened the door. The bathroom lights above the mirror did not work and the shower control was fitted upside down. The room was very dated and shabby, with only two sockets in the room. One of these was being used by the television, which didn't recieve a good signal, so watching television was out of the question. The other was used for the one bedside lamp and kettle. The carpets were worn and the walls needed decorating.

Good Stuff: The receptionist/bar staff were helpful and polite. Tea/coffee facilities were good.

“Good sized rooms are one of the many reasons people come here and like it a lot. Easy access to the town on foot (16 minutes walk or so) or by bus is another. This is a nice pub that serves you up great food too. ”
